Meeting minutes April 26, 2012
The meeting began at 7 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Scott Freudenthal conducted the meeting in the president’s absence.
The treasurer’s report indicated an expense of $61.25 for corporate filing. Insurance on the equipment will be due in June.

There is not enough interest or time to organize to help with the Opening of the Beaches parade
The extra-class study group will meet in May.

Scott said that the old link sys routes for high-speed multimedia. Old routers are needed.
Club members watched a video about the Dayton Hamvention. They also watched a trailer for the Man on a Mission movie about Richard Garriott, who took a small Kenwood for SSTV when he went into space.
Scott showed a video on TED. Avi Rubin spoke about computer security in medical devices, cars, and iphones.
Scott also discussed the D-star machine. The D-star downtown will be connected. D-star provides clear digital audio. D-star radios will also do analog. The new simplex hot spot in Orange Park is 145.45.
Club members showed interesting QSL cards and shared the stories behind the cards.
Joe Allen gave a presentation on “Maritime Communications . . . Then and Now” in which he described the communications systems used on the Titanic and the systems used on modern ships. He also talked about his recent experience on the Azamark Journey as it retraced the route of the Titanic.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
